Seminars/Introduction to Court Interpreting
This seminar is designed for Spanish/English bilinguals new to the
field of court interpretation or with very limited experience. All
seminars will begin on Friday morning at 8 a.m. and complete on Sunday
at 12 p.m.
Course objectives include:

Introduce
and familiarize students with the court system |

Introduce
students to the ethical and procedural parameters of court
interpretation |

Introduce
and provide intensive practice in the three modes of
interpretation: simultaneous, consecutive, and sight translation |

Discuss
testing requirements, job opportunities, and association info |
| |
 |
Provide
feedback, study materials, and resource guides so that students
will recognize skill-sets they need to develop and understand
how to do so |
All seminar content is adjusted to reflect the different requirements
of any location. Therefore, local testing, job opportunities, associations,
etc., will be covered in detail.
SLS is seeking recognition for this seminar from
state administrative offices of the courts (AOCs) wherever it is
applicable.
